Terms of Service

Straightforward terms for using Homie - no legal gobbledygook

Last updated: 2 November 2025

The Basics

Welcome to Homie! These terms govern your use of our website (askhomie.co.uk) and services. By using Homie, you're agreeing to these terms. If you don't agree, that's cool - just don't use our site.

We're trying to keep this simple and fair. If anything is unclear, drop us a line at legal@askhomie.co.uk.

What Homie Is (And Isn't)

Right Now

Homie is a waitlist for our upcoming property reports service, plus a collection of free property calculators (mortgage, stamp duty, affordability, etc.). The calculators are provided for free, as-is, to help you budget for your home purchase.

Coming Soon

We're building detailed property reports that reveal hidden information about UK properties - flood risks, planning issues, neighbourhood insights, and all the stuff estate agents conveniently forget to mention. When this launches, it'll be a paid service.

Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Homie (browsing our site, using our calculators, joining our waitlist), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy.

You must be at least 18 years old to use Homie. By using our service, you represent that you meet this age requirement.

Using Our Free Calculators

Our calculators are free to use and designed to help you budget for buying a property. Here's the deal:

  • Informational purposes only: The calculators provide estimates based on standard formulas. They're not financial advice, and actual costs may vary
  • No guarantees: We make our calculators as accurate as possible, but we can't guarantee they're error-free or that results will match real-world outcomes
  • Get professional advice: Always consult with a qualified mortgage advisor, solicitor, or financial advisor before making property decisions
  • Free forever: Our basic calculators will always be free. No hidden fees, no trial periods, no credit card required

Waitlist Terms

When you join our waitlist:

  • We'll email you when Homie's property reports are ready to launch
  • We might occasionally send relevant product updates (but we won't spam you - promise)
  • You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in our emails or emailing us
  • Being on the waitlist doesn't obligate you to purchase anything when we launch
  • We reserve the right to offer early access, discounts, or special pricing to waitlist members (but no promises)

Future Property Reports (Paid Service)

When we launch our property reports service:

  • It will be a paid service - we'll clearly display pricing before you purchase
  • Payment will be required before accessing full property reports
  • We'll provide separate terms and conditions for the paid service when it launches
  • Reports will be based on publicly available data and our analysis - they're informational, not guarantees
  • Property reports don't replace professional surveys, legal searches, or due diligence

Acceptable Use

When using Homie, you agree not to:

  • Violate any laws or regulations
  • Use automated systems (bots, scrapers, etc.) to access or collect data from our site
  • Attempt to hack, disrupt, or compromise our website's security
  • Reproduce, copy, or resell our calculators or (future) reports without permission
  • Impersonate Homie or misrepresent your relationship with us
  • Use Homie for any fraudulent or harmful purpose

Basically, don't be a jerk. Use common sense and play fair.

Intellectual Property

All content on Homie - including our calculators, design, text, graphics, logos, and code - is owned by us or our licensors. It's protected by UK and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You can use our calculators for personal, non-commercial purposes. You can't copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.

Want to use our stuff for something cool? Ask us - we're reasonable people.

Disclaimers and Limitations

This is important, so please read it:

  • No warranties: Homie is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We try our best, but we can't guarantee our site will always be available or error-free
  • Not financial advice: Nothing on Homie constitutes financial, legal, or property advice. Always consult qualified professionals for important decisions
  • Calculator accuracy: While we strive for accuracy, calculator results are estimates only. Actual costs and figures may differ
  • Third-party data: When we launch property reports, they'll rely on third-party data sources. We can't guarantee the accuracy or completeness of that data
  • Property information: Property data can change. Reports are based on information available at the time of generation

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Homie and its team are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of our service. This includes (but isn't limited to) lost profits, lost data, or damages from relying on our calculators or reports.

Our total liability to you for any claims related to Homie is limited to the amount you've paid us in the past 12 months (which, for free services, is £0).

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or anything else that UK law doesn't allow us to limit.

Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Homie from any claims, damages, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of our service, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any rights of others.

Translation: If you do something that gets us sued, you're responsible for the consequences.

Changes to Homie

We're constantly improving Homie. We may:

  • Add, modify, or discontinue features at any time
  • Update our calculators with new formulas or data
  • Launch new paid services (like property reports)
  • Temporarily suspend access for maintenance or updates

We'll try to give you notice of significant changes, but we're not obligated to.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time as Homie evolves. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

If we make significant changes, we'll notify you via email (if you're on our waitlist) or with a prominent notice on our website.

Your continued use of Homie after changes means you accept the updated terms. If you don't agree with the new terms, stop using our service.

Termination

You can stop using Homie at any time. To remove yourself from our waitlist, click the unsubscribe link in our emails or contact us.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to Homie if you violate these terms or engage in harmful behavior. We'll try to be reasonable, but we need to protect our service and other users.

Governing Law and Disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

That said, if you have a problem with Homie, please reach out to us first. We'd rather solve issues directly than in court. Email us at legal@askhomie.co.uk and we'll do our best to make things right.

Severability

If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that part will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary. The rest of the terms will remain in full effect.

(This is standard legal boilerplate that basically says "if one bit doesn't work, the rest still applies.")

Entire Agreement

These Terms of Service, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Homie regarding your use of our service.
